AAPM&R is Providing Access to Affordable PPE

Members & Publications

July 30, 2020

This year has been challenging. AAPM&R understands that some members may be having trouble acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE), especially N95 masks. To help you care for your patients safely, we are providing an opportunity to purchase high-quality PPE at a low cost.

The Academy is partnering with the American College of Physicians (ACP) and other medical societies to organize a bulk order of N95 masks, gloves, and other PPE through Project N95, a non-profit organization that sources quality FDA- and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-approved PPE from vetted manufacturers. The ACP previously worked with Project N95 to secure N95 masks for their membership and is extending the opportunity to partner with other specialties.

By working together with ACP and other societies, we increase our collective purchasing power. The greater the number of participants and the bigger the order, the lower our prices will be.

If you are interested in participating in this members-only offer, please complete this brief survey by Monday, August 3, to indicate the type and quantity of equipment you need.

The Academy anticipates making a quantity commitment shortly after reviewing your responses. The final order will be based on the most-needed protective items.

If you have further questions please email covidresponse@aapmr.org or call (847) 737-6000.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
