AAPM&R recently launched a free webinar series, National Grand Rounds, to connect physiatrists of all specializations, from across the country, for stimulating discourse on topics that represent the intellectual, practical and/or spiritual aspects of the specialty. Under the direction of the Medical Education Committee, this monthly forum will include the presentation of a topic of broad or in-depth focus that serves to bring together physiatrists via a virtual platform.
Examples of topics include telehealth and the evolution of patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of mentorship, how much physiatrists have to offer to cancer patients and survivors and much more.
National Grand Rounds: Fibromyalgia
Wednesday, March 10 at 7 pm (CT)
Faculty: Daniel J. Clauw, MD
Moderator: Andrew B. Collins, MD, FAAPMR
There is no “one fits all” way to manage and treat fibromyalgia, because each patient you may encounter is different and has unique conditions. Each one needs to be handled with an individual care plan, which includes identifying their own specific fibromyalgia treatment goals.
During this exciting National Grand Rounds session, Daniel J. Clauw, MD, Professor of Anesthesiology, Medicine (Rheumatology) and Psychiatry, and Director of the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center at the University of Michigan, will present an overview of fibromyalgia and chronic pain, and discuss the rationale behind a variety of current research studies into the possible causes of fibromyalgia.
Dr. Clauw will provide his assessment on the underlying mechanisms that are responsible for chronic pain syndrome and address how to manage them using various treatment options.
Reserve your spot today and attend this FREE webinar on Wednesday, March 10 at 7 pm (CT), so you can hear about the latest advancements in the management and treatment of fibromyalgia.
If you know someone who might be interested in this topic, please forward them this information, even if they are not a physiatrist!
