Thank You, RUC Survey Completers!

Thank you to everyone who recently completed the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC) survey for physician office visits (99202-99205, 99211-99215) and a new prolonged services code (99XXX). The survey was complex and time-consuming in nature, so your participation is greatly appreciated!

The physiatry community represented itself well compared to the numerous specialties participating in this critical effort. Submitted responses have the potential to help AAPM&R, in concert with the RUC, recommend accurate relative values for physician work and direct practice expense to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
