New Geriatrics Modules Available from AGS

Patrick Kortebein, MD, FAAPMR, represented AAPM&R by helping develop the new Geriatrics Virtual Patient Case (VPC) Modules for Surgical and Related Medical Sub-Specialties with the AGS and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).

The modules include 9 vignettes and each multimedia presentation walks the participant through the clinical tasks that can challenge the care of older adult patients. All vignettes focus on cross-cutting geriatric care topics in order to promote knowledge and competence in the delivery of quality perioperative surgical care for older adults.

This activity offers up to 3 ABPMR MOC Part II Self-Assessment Credits and is FREE for the first 1,000 participants, then only $15. Participants should follow the AGS instructions upon entering the activity to claim their credit.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
