PM&R Compensation Data is Now Available

AAPM&R is excited to announce that the 2017 PM&R Physician Compensation Survey Report is now available. If you experience issues flipping pages in the report, please clear your cache and try again. If that does not work, please try on a different internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Edge.

This 150+ page document includes an executive summary, highlighting key learnings from the study and an in-depth static report with comprehensive, de-identified compensation and production data, and a narrative of the results.

AAPM&R worked with ECG Management Consultants, an independent and neutral third-party who conducted the survey, to collect and report 2016 market compensation and productivity benchmarks for physiatrists with detailed information on:

  • Practice characteristics
  • Physician demographics
  • Clinical activities
  • Income levels
  • Compensation plan structure
  • Benefits

In the future of medicine, data will impact how a physician practices medicine and their compensation for services. AAPM&R wants to arm physiatrists with data, so you can tell your own story and show your value. This report provides definitive benchmarks of practice activities, salary, and other compensation components to aid in your negotiations and contracting efforts.

AAPM&R members who join or renew their dues for 2018 will receive a complimentary report of the findings as a benefit of membership. Additionally, AAPM&R will provide high-level data from this report to Medscape to help generate awareness about our specialty.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
