Help Restore Coverage for Interventional Spine Procedures in Oregon

As previously reported, on April 6, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00p, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) will reconsider its ruling that eliminated coverage for epidural steroid injections. The OHA’s Health Evidence Review Commission’s Evidence-based Guidelines Subcommittee will meet to review and discuss the initial draft coverage guidance “Low Back Pain: Minimally Invasive and Non-Corticosteroid Percutaneous Interventions” and revised coverage guidance “Low Back Pain: Corticosteroid Injections.”

We urge interventional pain physicians and their patients to attend the in-person meeting to ensure their voices are heard.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
