Preview 2014 Quality Measures
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has opened the30-day preview periodfor the 2014 quality measures that will be reported on Physician Compare later this year. You can access the secured measures preview site now through the PQRS portal—Provider Quality Information Portal (PQIP). To learn more about which measures will be publicly reported and how to preview your measures, visit thePhysician Compare Initiative page.

2016 Call for Innovative Proposals Open
Your Academy invites you to submit a proposal for an educational session at the 2016 Annual Assembly that incorporates innovative learning to enhance the traditional lecture-based format. The Program Planning Committee encourages proposals that incorporate techniques such as polling the audience, roundtable discussion, role-playing, and hands-on skill application. The deadline for submission is Friday, November 20, at 11:59 pm (CT). Learn more about the submission process here.

Sharon Kanelos, MD
Check out thisWashington Postarticle, featuring Academy member Sharon Kanelos, MD, discussing her treatment of a newborn baby with primary congenital lymphedema.
Dr. Kanelos received her MD at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her residency at Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC, where she served as chief resident in her final year of residency. Dr. Kanelos then joined the faculty of Carolinas Rehabilitation where she worked as the director of the prosthetics and orthotics program and co-director of the lymphedema program. She is very active in the education of residents and was awarded the James T. McDeavitt Teaching Award in 2010 for contributions to the education of residents at Carolinas Rehabilitation.
Heidi Prather, DO
Dr. Prather was one of five alumni who were honored at Drury University’s Distinguished Alumni Awards Recognition Dinner on Friday, October 9. The 2015 Distinguished honorees were chosen for their career achievements, service to their communities, and contributions to the University.
Dr. Prather attended the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, graduating summa cum laude in 1991. She is certified in 3 areas: PM&R, pain medicine, and sports medicine. Dr. Prather is now a professor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where she also holds various leadership roles. She has received numerous awards for her teaching in medicine, and she was the first woman to become president of the North American Spine Society. Congratulations, Dr. Prather!
