Pain Management Best Practices from Multi-Specialty Organizations During the COVID-19 Pandemic and Public Health Crisis was just published as an accepted manuscript in Pain Medicine on April 7. AAPM&R collaborated with the American Academy of Pain Medicine and several other pain management-related societies. It provides a framework for pain practitioners and institutions to balance the often-conflicting goals of risk mitigation for health care providers, risk mitigation for patients, conservation of resources, and access to pain management services.

A special thank you to Scott R. Laker, MD, FAAPMR, who served as the Academy’s representative, and AAPM&R Board Member D.J. Kennedy, MD, FAAPMR, who served as one of the authors.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
