Dr. Julie SilverWe are excited to announce that our AAPM&R 2021 Annual Assembly Walter J. Zeiter Lecture recipient is Julie Silver, MD, FAAPMR!

Dr. Silver is an associate professor and associate chair in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. She has held numerous leadership positions and is a former start-up company founder. Dr. Silver’s research and clinical work has focused on improving gaps in the delivery of healthcare services. She has published many scientific reports and is well-known for her ground-breaking work on “impairment-driven cancer rehabilitation.” Earlier this year, Dr. Silver received AAPM&R’s Distinguished Public Service Award for her cross-cutting work on workforce and patient care disparities with an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion. We look forward to her lecture on Saturday, November 13 in Nashville, TN – congratulations, Dr. Silver!

 

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
